![]() ![]() On the 4108 the starter motor would be on the left of the picture so the bell housing would have to be different to accommodate it. The picture below shows a 4107 with the velvet drive removed (complete with leaky emulsified transmission fluid) and the starter motor is on the right of the picture below the filter. ![]() ![]() I replaced a 107m with a 108 out of a van, I had to use the manifold, water pump, oil filter adapter, bell housing and flywheel from the 107 but i dont remember having any problems, but it was 20 years ago.Why do you say they wont fit?Because the starter motor is on a different side on each engine. Hi,sorry for the touble,but iam new to inboard ingines,although i have been sailing since 1973 i have allways had an outboard engine,so here we go,my present engine a perkins 4.107 has expired,so i went with a friend to view a low line perkins 4.108 this has the starter on the opposite side from the 4.107,the 4.108 starter is on left hand viewing from the stern forward,my friend was of the opinion that the 4.108 would not fit my borg warner velvet drive gearbox,if anyone can please advise i would be very. ![]()
